There are eight planets in our solar system. Your imagination limits in these planets, that's it? The answer in no. Our sun is just another star among several hundred of billion of stars present in our galaxy. A dwarf galaxy (small galaxy) composed of up to several billion stars. Our galaxy (milky way galaxy) is composed of about 200 - 400 billion stars. And the giants one? Well they have about 100 trillion stars.
Our Solar System:
There are 8 planets which we commonly read in different books.
- Mercury
- Venus
- Earth
- Mars
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Uranus
- Neptune
Beyond these 8 planets, there are about at-least 100 billion planets and up to 400 billion stars in our galaxy. We can't figure out the exact number of planets or stars because there are many tiny stars present in dwarf stars. If you want to compare your earth with other planets you can see the difference.

Inner Planets:
Usually we include four planets in our inner solar system. These don't have ring systems (ring of cosmic dust and other small particles revolving around planet).
- Mercury (0.4 AU from the Sun)
- Venus (0.7 AU from the Sun)
- Earth (1 AU from the Sun)
- Mars (1.5 AU from the Sun)

Outer Planets:
Because of larger distance from sun, we include 4 planets in outer solar system. All these have their own rings though only Saturn's ring system can be observed from Earth.
- Neptune (5.2 AU from the Sun)
- Uranus (9.5 AU from the Sun)
- Saturn (9.5 AU from the Sun)
- Jupiter (30 AU from the Sun)
Dwarf Planets:
There are several hundred dwarf planets in our solar system. Five currently are recognized by the IAU
- Ceres
- Pluto
- Haumea
- Makemake
- Eris
Natural Satellite:
There are almost 427 natural satellites including 170 planetary and 257 minor planetary.
Minor Planets:
There are 638,836 known minor planets in our solar system as of 2014-04-15.Comets:
Almost 3,263 comets are present as of 2014-04-15.Sun:
As compared to all our other stars and planets, sun is the biggest star. According to studies, it is not the eldest star as it was born in later stages. But it is the growing more brighter among all other because it's having hydrogen for nuclear reaction.![]() |

What is Next?
Beyond this short information, there are many more planets and stars present in our solar system. If you want to count solar systems within a galaxy, that is impossible right now. But some astronauts says that about 500 solar systems makes 1 galaxy (still discovering one every year). Found in neighborhood Milky Way galaxy, scientists estimate that there may be tens of billions of solar systems in our galaxy, perhaps even as many as 100 billion.
And what do you think about world beyond our imagination?
